Pizza Pie!

Every time we got to Gatlinburg, we are quickly reminded why we don't rent accommodations there or spent much time there while in the Smokys. The crowds, the parking (lack thereof), the prices and the cheap cheesy attractions! Give me Pigeon Forge, Townsend, or Sevierville any day. However, we did eat at a hole in the wall pizza place that claimed to have Northern-style pizza. They truly did and Dave was thrilled to say the least!

Dave got his Dukes of Hazzard fix in!One of 20 remaining General Lees used in the series

Davy Crockett Mini Golf

This was a fun little excursion especially since there were hardly any people there. Wish we had a cute course like this at home!Dave and his cheese!

The prairie dogs sang a song as the ball rolled past them

I got a hole in one on the last hole and won a free game!

Parrot Mountain

This was by far our favorite activity of the whole trip. We are still talking about it!

Feeding nectar to the Lorikeets

Check out the resident cat! Not even bothered by all the noises.

We can't wait to go back!

Smoky Mountain Cat House

Dave humored me with a trip to the Smoky Mountain Cat House which is a cat lover's gift shop highlighted by several live roaming cats. We ran into about 5 of them, the first of which was taking a nap on the cash register!
Sam was the sweetest and reminded us both of my dearly departed Apricot.
He is 17 years old!

Let them eat....6 year old cake?

That's right! This is our 6th year eating our wedding cake. Most people think that's gross, but I think they are just jealous they didn't know the proper preservation technique and couldn't enjoy their cake in the years to come. It involves many many layers of plastic wrap, aluminum foil, newpaper (CRUCIAL), rubbermaid containers, and boxes. This little chunk of cake takes up the whole bottom of my chest freezer the way it is packaged! The buttercream is just as delicious as the day it was baked. Our goal is 10 years. :p

Cade's Cove

Though Townsend is 30 minutes from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg hub, we much prefer to stay here for the scenery, tranquility, and proximity to Cades Cove

Eastern Hemlock. Dave was excited to see a tree common to New Jersey growing down South.

Wish I could have gotten a better picture of this mountainside tunnel. It was neat to drive through.
Why they're called "The Smokys"!

An old church with old tombstones

Have a bug problem much?

We chose to stay at Timberwinds again this trip because of the awesome price! We were happy with it since the bargain allowed us to spend 3 night instead of just 2. I didn't get a picture of our back porch hot tub, but that's where we spent most of our time. We figure about 8 hours total! Hopefully we won't come down with some weird form of cancer from all the chlorine exposure. :)

You can read my Trip Advisor review of "Jared's Place" as soon as tripadvisor.com approves it.

We only have one picture of our whole honeymoon since I dropped and broke my camera almost as soon as we arrived so we sneaked over to Evergreen to at least get some outside pictures. Now I can do a honeymoon scrapbook page and just pretend these were taken six years ago!
