More Babies!

Freshly Hatched. Two of them have chipmunk markings. I wonder what they'll grow up to look like.
What a sweet little baby and HOLY CRAP I HAVE FAT ARMS! Note to self...download Photoshop
These chickies have two mommies. I guess they are California chickens.

Here's Buttercup with her three week old brood. They are entering that gawky teenage phase. Don't worry guys. It will pass. Try not to smoke and drink too much though.

Apricot's grave has evolved into quite the memorial site! It looks great, Dad.

Fourth of July Weekend

Dad, Mom, Katy, and the kids all spent a week on Smith Lake for the 4th of July. Dave, Gilbert, and I were able to join them for a couple days to share in the fun. There’s a million photos here that I don’t feel like putting in any particular order so I’ll just make little comments here and there. They will likely be snarky.

Getting a tutorial from Brandon before scaring the crap out of him

Dock Hide and Seek. Shhhhhh...

We had some yumilicious eats!

Dave borrows my Crocs..,Then returns wearing a matching skirt? What the heck?

Is it possible to chill out any more than this?

Dave demonstrates yet another appropriate occasion to wear an SCS tshirt. Sigh.

Dave wss the clear winner in the Jump Over the Funoodle Event.

We finished a Titanic murder mystery puzzle with no picture to go by! We have serious skills.

Most of us are familiar with Baptist swimming, (when in Rome! *rolling my eyes*) but Dad took it to a whole new level. Amish swimming. He wasn’t sunburned…I’ll give him that.

The hike from the house to the dock was over 100 steep steps. Once you were in the water, you STAYED there.

For meals too!

Does it get any better? Maybe if we actually caught something. ;)

Taco Salad Cake

Gilbert's b'day is today and this is his taco salad cake. The chocolate cake was baked in a Wilton wonder mold pan. The top was cut off and crumbled to place around the edges for ground beef. The tortilla chips are made of fondant and cookie crumbs (for that chip texture). The tomatoes and olives are fondant brushed with tinted piping gel for shine. The lettuce is tinted stale coconut that tastes like food coloring. I'm going to warn everyone about that one! For cheese, I put tinted fondant in a cheese grater. The sour cream is just a wollop of buttercream frosting and the guacamole is the same only tinted and mixed with a couple reserved tomatoes for an authentic look.
This cake was probably the most fun to make out of any that I've done so far. It took about six hours total so it wasn't the easiest, but by far the "funnest." If someone actually mistakes it for taco salad tonight, I will be sooooo complimented.

Out on the Town

With Jeremy and Julie moving to town it's nice to have a couple our age to hang out with. We enjoyed some humongous burgers at Red Robin at Bridge Street and even had a special visitor.

The onion ring tower of coolness

Thanks guys for getting a sitter and going out with us! We had so much fun. Next time we'll have to plan a kid-friendly outing and bring Noah along.
