Day Two at the Beach

Dave's parents came over to Orange Beach during day two of our stay to get some beach time in with the three of us.

.I just thought I was cold- natured

Trudy liked the condo's pool much better than the ocean. She had to have Mo in the water with her though once she started getting tired. It's a good thing he's machine-washable!

Beach Baby

The owner of the condo we'd planned to rent next week agreed to move our slot up so we could spend the rest of our evacuation vacationing! Trudy got to see the ocean for the first time. She wasn't too thrilled with the waves, but the sandy beach was a big hit. And does she rock a bikini or what!

Fun with Mom Mom and Pop Pop

Dave's parents were nice enough to let us crash their place with no notice. We spent three nights enjoying the luxury of running water and electricity that the Alabama tornadoes temporarily stole from us. Trudy enjoyed getting reacquainted with her Mom Mom and Pop Pop and especially appreciated being introduced to graham crackers by Mom Mom. They are her new favorite thing.

Trudy's first trip to a big church where she isn't the only baby. She enjoyed the song service.

Let's just evacuate...

As fun as it was to cook like this, after 24 hours we opted for the power and running water that was available at Dave's parents' house.

Trudy's First Easter...sort of.

It's a good thing Trudy won't remember her first Easter. There was no church service, pretty dress, ham, or egg hunt, and her basket sat forlornly on the kitchen counter all day. That's how you "celebrate" Easter with a sick mom. I'm thankful that sickness struck on a Sunday since Dave was able to keep her most of the day while I rested. Fast forward to Tuesday and I staged a photo so we'll have something to scrapbook. Here's the dress she would have worn and the Easter basket she got two days late. Inside is her Sweetsation Therapy bath soak (that we've already used, but hey she doesn't know that!) and a onesie from Pickled Lily.

Pulling Up

I left Trudy in the living room for a minute and heard the play table that the Spellmans let us borrow playing. This is why. She's pulling up! Of course I immediately ran for the camera.

The Melting Pot

Sundays are ironically the busiest, most hectic day of the week for us. I can't say I'm thrilled when my birthday falls on a Sunday, but Dave helped make up for the fact by taking me out to The Melting Pot for dinner. While the food and atmosphere were amazing, the best gift of all was a few hours of freedom from a clingy baby! Sorry, Trudy but it's the truth. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for keeping her!
Do you fondue?
The booths are set up to make patrons feel like they are the only ones in the restaurant. We didn't see any other diners until we left the building. Loved the light fixture in the booth and took a picture.
First course was a cheese fondue
The second course was a salad and I neglected to take a picture. Third course was meats and veggies. We both like the filet mignon best, although the ravioli was the best we've ever tasted.

Don't forget the best part...dessert. We opted for dark chocolate fondue with sea salt. Yum!
