We enjoyed a day of shopping today and ate at Wintzell's Oyster House. Trudy loved the bread, fries, and ice cream the waitress brought for her.

Dave had the shrimp and grits

And I had a basket of fried oysters, shrimp, and fish.

All those carbs make ya thirsty!

A little whipped topping helps the fruit go down!

Father's Day 2011

We kicked off the celebration a little early on Saturday with dinner at our favorite steakhouse. There's no way we would attempt eating out on Father's Day.

 Trudy helped her daddy eat a cheese fry appetizer. Father/daughter bonding! She also got him a card.

At church Sunday I gave Dad his gift: a "Papa & Me" frame with a picture of him and a newborn Trudy in it. He was pretty jazzed.

And Katy made these so the rest of us were pretty jazzed too!

Berry Berry Good

Blackberry season is here early and Trudy has the stained face and fingers to prove it. She enjoyed her first taste of blackberries this week and is a huge fan. She's been eating a couple of handfuls (my handfuls) every day.

We're in a drought here in Alabama with our area going over a month and a half without rain until last night when it poured for about three minutes. The incredible heat has confused the blackberries making them think that this is July. At least some good has come from the brutal weather.

  More berries, please!

10 Months

We're just going to have to change the name of the blog to "Trudy Gervens" since that's all we have to blog about anymore. But when you don't go out after 8:00pm and live an hour from everything...that's what you get.

Trudy is 10 months old so it's time for the monthly rocking chair picture.

Happy Memorial Day!

We've had a busy and productive long weekend. Trudy enjoyed watermelon for the first time yesterday at our church's Memorial Day cookout.

Congratulations, Andrea!

Andee is now a high school graduate. How time flies! We were able to attend her commencement ceremony this weekend. 

Congratulations, Andrea! We sure are going to miss you, but are also excited for you as you start the next chapter in life.

Welcome Madeline Rose!

Julie is a mom for the third time and both Trudy and I got to visit with the new family today. She is so sweet and tiny at 6lbs, 5oz. You forget how little they are when they are brand new.

Julie looks great and it up and about like she didn't just have a baby!

 Trudy didn't quite know what to think about another baby on the scene, and was totally jealous of Madeline's hair.

Noah and Nate introduced her to goldfish crackers and that was a big hit.

This was Trudy's first time to meet Jeremy and he was a big hit too. That might have had something to do with the chocolate chip cookie he gave her.

Maddie is going to have a couple of protective big brothers!

 Congratulations, Jeremy and Julie! She is gorgeous.
