Early Birthday Fun

We went out to eat with my parents and the Cedillos for an early birthday celebration. Trudy wasn't feeling well. She only cuddles when she has a fever so Dave was soaking up all the affection he could.

And Mom and Dad did a great job distracting me from the fact that I'm turning 30! Now to figure out how to use it.

Easter Fun 2012

 

Hope everyone had a happy Easter! We started the day off with Easter baskets in our PJ's and let Trudy enjoy a Lindt chick for breakfast. Don't worry. Chocolate for breakfast won't happen again until November 1st. ;)

She also got Play-Doh and hair elastics in her basket. We're keeping it low-key and cheap for as long as we can get away with it!

 

Dave wasn't left out. T and I got him a bucket of Crunch eggs. After baskets we got gussied up in our Easter finery and headed to church for an Easter brunch. Gigi and Papa got Trudy a bag of Easter goodies that included chocolate, jellybeans, a new Wubbnub, Good Night Moon, and a stuffed rabbit that matches the one in the book.

 

Dave and I weren't left out of the goodies. Mom got him some Boar's Head cheese and me a maternity top that Trudy picked out (purple!)

 

Of course I had a couple of little gifts for Mom and Dad...that I left at home. Who else has a hard time getting things together on Sunday mornings?

After a resurrection message, Dave and I took Trudy to my parents house for her first egg hunt. Egg hunting is serious business as you can see. She liked playing with the eggs more than anything (which got messy as I didn't boil the eggs long enough!) so next year I'm just going to fling some plastic eggs in the yard and let her throw, carry, sort, and open them all she wants. We did have fun dyeing them though.

Lowe's Helper

Trudy was styling today in her heels, jeans, and strappy blouse, but she didn't let that stop her from helping Daddy out with deck materials at Lowe's. Don't let the painted toes fool you! She can feed a chicken and carry tools too. :)

Meet our Chickens! (and help me rename one)

The hens are here! We now have a small flock of backyard chickens thanks to my dad's generosity. He even threw in the coop which it now serviceable again thanks to some minor repairs by Hubs. Isn't it cute? Our neighbors like it too which is good since they also have to look at it.

Trudy is especially enjoying raising chickens in the backyard and would be content to feed the "bok-boks" all day long.

Ok, time for introductions! Meet Rosemary the Dominicker mix and Bianca the um...yard hen. Dad told me what she was a mix of but I forgot.

And this is the chicken formerly known as Heather. I'd like to rename her since I have several friends and a family member named Heather and it's just not working for me. What would be a good name for a black Ameraucana mix that is slightly deranged?

Yep, she's deranged! She kept escaping at Dad's house, screams like a banshee if you pick her up, and the other chickens gang up on her. Dad was hoping she'd move up in the pecking order with a smaller flock, but not so. The first night, Rosemary and Bianca wouldn't let her up in the coop to roost. She had to sleep on the ladder. And this morning when I went to collect eggs, there were only two. "Heather" had to lay her egg around lunchtime since the other two wouldn't let her in the bucket.

I'm proud of them for laying so soon after being moved to a new home. I figured it would take them a little while to settle in, but maybe the chicken coop was familiar to them.

So let's show Heather some love with a really awesome chicken name since she's at the bottom of the pecking order. Leave a comment below with your suggestions and I'll choose one this week.

More Toes

Expect toenail polish to be a regular feature from now on. Trudy sat still while I painted three coats of purple glitter polish AND a topcoat. Next time I'm just going to do French! She loves her toes painted. So funny.

Toes

Hehe. She sat perfectly still while I polished her nails with Piggy Paint and dried them with the hair dryer. Now whenever my manicure bag is out she finds the polish and brings it to me while yelling "toes!"

Big Sister

We're expecting baby #2 in September! Considering Trudy pitches a fit when I show attention to a cat or a small dog this will be quite an adjustment for her. Eventually though I think she'll make a great big sister. ;)

Splish Splash

It's a good thing T has finally decided she likes baths. Otherwise there would be no more Nutella for dinner!

Sleepytime

I rarely take sleeping pictures because I don't want Trudy to wake up. Let sleeping babies lie! She had already overslept for her nap at this point and needed to get up in order to keep her usual bedtime so I figured it was worth the risk. What I can't figure out is how this is comfortable!

Fun times with Gigi

Mom comes over 1-3 times a week for a few hours to spend time with Trudy. It's a huge blessing and allows me to blog for a living at Sweet T Makes Three and to clean enough to keep rats and roaches from carting our house away. Today I decided to join the fun. We went to a consignment sale and out to lunch. I need to get a DSLR stat! My little perpetual motion machine won't be still long enough to capture.
