I'm always a little torn when Brandon and Aran play the old alma mater, but was glad they both won their games.

It happened to be homecoming so I got to visit with some old friends.

And Gus made some new ones!

MOPS Cookie Swap

December is here which means cookies, merriment, and other holiday cheer. Unfortunately it also means stomach bugs and colds. When the scheduled speaker's children come down with a bug, you call in a replacement. When the replacement's children also become ill, you panic I guess. But you'd never know there was a snafu thanks to our wonderful steering team and their quick thinking.

We played a variety of Christmas-themed games, the most memorable (and photo-worthy) being Holiday charades.

What's a Christmas celebration without cookies? The whole family is enjoying the sampling we received. Since we also exchanged recipes, I'll be able to recreate their favorites.

Rhett and Gus decided to crash the end of the party so they could have some milk with their cookies. ;)

Let's not forget our amazing child care workers who make it possible for us to enjoy a break, worry-free! Trudy gets excited each morning that I tell her we're going to MOPS thanks to the care and enthusiasm of these ladies. She's proud of the ornament they helped her make today.

Pizza Party

My parents came over for dinner and I made some easy flat bread pizzas. We enjoyed spending time with them.

The Nashville Zoo

Our Nashville trip ended almost as soon as it started due to a kidney stone. Thankfully we stopped at the zoo on the way to our hotel, otherwise we would have seen nothing in Nashville but the emergency room!

Temps were mild and crowds were nonexistent. Winter weekdays are now the only time I ever want to visit! Gus loved riding in his carrier since there was plenty for him to see.

Meerkats are so playful and fun to watch.

Trim the Tree

2012 is a year we can actually have a tree. Trudy is old enough to obey and Gus isn't mobile yet! Last year we used an inflatable Eeyore as our "tree" and will do the same in 2013 since Gus will be the same age Trudy was last Christmas. This year we mostly decorated with soft, unbreakable ornaments with the exception of the very top branches.

Trudy placed almost every one of them which resulted in clumps of ornaments on certain parts of the tree.

Gus loves to lay under the tree and look at the lights.
