Father's Day Saturday

We met our guide, Shannon, at 7:00 am and prepared for the 1 mile hike down into Little River Canyon.

I only fell on my butt one time. Woo-hoo!

Gasp, pant....finally the river is in sight.There were strange-looking grasshoppers everywhere

We changed into our stylin' felt-bottomed fishing boots and took the river by storm.

No fish were safe...

Even the bait-sized ones. :)

Father's Day Friday

Stormy Weather

I really enjoy a good thunderstorm. Sadly, here in north Alabama it isn't often that a storm doesn't bring a few tornadoes along with it. Summer thunderstorms are usually tornado-free thanks to the heat so I enjoyed sitting in the sunroom to watch one roll in without worrying about being blown to Oz. :) (this is a video, Facebook people. gervens.blogspot.com)

Double-Header

It was so nice out Friday night! I don't ever remember needing a sweater on a June night here in Alabama, but I'm not complaining.

Casey isn't much of a barker so Dave knew something was up when he say him barking frantically at one of our crabapple trees.
There were two king snakes twisted around the trunk! Dave shot them both in the head before extricating them from their death grip on the tree.

Sure is nice to have a man around to handle this sort of thing! It's so not PC of me, but it's the truth nonetheless.

We dropped Dave's truck off at the U-sell it lot today and I couldn't resist snapping a picture of this sign. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt in assuming they were paying by the letter, but somehow I doubt it.
